How it's organised
The Musicality page groups concepts into four categories. Each category has a handful of phenomena, and each phenomenon comes with one or more example recordings, each pointing at a specific moment in a specific song.
Fundamentals
The grammar of tango: beat, phrase, structure. Where to focus your ear first.
Speeds
Slow vs. fast, and the orchestras that live in between.
Basic rhythms
Marcato, sincopa, fraseo. The patterns you'll start hearing everywhere.
Variations
The flourishes and surprises, what makes a recording sound like itself.
Studying one phenomenon

Pick a category, then a phenomenon
Categories are listed on the left. Click one to expand its phenomena. Each phenomenon has a short, plain-language definition first, read it before you listen.

An example loads
A YouTube clip is cued to a specific timestamp, the exact moment in the recording where the phenomenon appears. The player shows orchestra, year, singer, and a one-liner about what to listen for.

Toggle the loop
The loop button replays the clip on repeat. Sit with it. Don't move on after one pass, let your ear catch the same moment three, four, ten times. That's when it lands.

Step through examples
Prev/next moves you through other examples of the same phenomenon, different orchestras, different decades. Comparing them side-by-side is where the pattern really crystallises.
Pick one phenomenon a week. Loop two or three of its examples a few times across the week. Then, when you're listening to a full recording somewhere else, try to spot the same phenomenon happening in real time.
That's the whole pedagogy: tiny, named, repeated, then heard in the wild.
The dance examples section follows the same shape, same loop, same prev/next, but with movement instead of music. Listening and watching, side by side.
